Re-Design & Rehabilitation of an Historic Downtown Shopping Mall

ASD's design ideas will transform Lincoln Square Mall, newly named "The Village at Lincoln Square," into a vibrant facility satisfying shopper's changing lifestyles and buying habits.
Our Client's goals and objectives are three-fold:
1 Re-design the existing retail stores from the "inside out." Instead of the shop entrances being deep inside the mall, they will front and open at the curb. Parking and user access will now be at the retailer's front door.
2 Increase and enhance office space to attract new business activity in the Village. Several thousand square feet of retail space will be converted to business/office use. Office design goals will encourage productivity and job satisfaction, the use of the latest office technology, and space flexibility to negotiate affordable and profitable leases.
3 Design residential suites offering new housing options inside the Village at Lincoln Square in the heart of downtown Urbana. A variety of housing types will be offered, including rooftop garden apartments for enjoying sun and sky.
A vision in the City of Urbana's Comprehensive Plan is to encourage the Village to be an active 24-hour hub of Urbana's revitalized downtown.
